Josephine has colourful wigs; a big and heavy nose ring and she collects bones of road victims. She is 20 years old and has never been part of the handball group in the small town in northern Jutland where she grew up. Instead, she has found her two friends in Gothic culture: the maximalist who goes by his self-proclaimed name Mareridt and the caring Christian Jay. Wearing heavy make-up and wild clothes, the Gothic trinity fights to control their inner demons and create a free space together where they can unfold undisturbed. But one day Josephine falls in love with Jan, and their precious friendship is threatened as her black heart starts to beat for something other than darkness.
