Una signora di mezza età osserva il microcosmo di un quartiere ateniese dal suo balcone. I suoi vicini vivono la sua attività di vigilante non richiesta con reazioni contrastanti. Succederà qualcosa che cambierà le dinamiche di quartiere per sempre. Aris Kaplanidis – poliedrico regista greco con più di una ventina di regie tra corti e videoclip – crea un racconto animato che si sviluppa sui continui cambi di sguardi e di punti di vista tra un balcone e la strada. Una storia corale che partendo da una realtà locale arriva a creare un racconto universale.
Aris Kaplanidis studied painting and illustration at the Applied Arts School of Spyros Ornerakis. During his studies, he directed the cult feature “The Almighty Tycoon of the Ninjas” (2007).
With his first short movie “Inset” (2007), he received a scholarship in the film department of the Lykourgos Stavrakos Film & Television School.
His graduation short film, “Same Old Blues” (2010), participated in the Digital Department of the Drama Short Film Festival.
He is a co-founder of the Greek Network of Independent Cinematographers “Chainfree”.
He has directed 11 films, including the feature “A Gospel According to Life” and the short “I Dreamed of Aphrodites (2013)”.
The screenplay for the film “The Devil of Spella” which he co-wrote with Thanassis Vasiliou, was completed through Mediterranean Film Institute’s Screenplay Workshop and is officially funded for development by the Greek Film Center.
In 2017 he was awarded with the 1st Prize for Best Pitching at Drama International Short Film Festival for the animated short “From the Balcony (2021)”.
He wrote and directed sketches for the comedy ensemble “Mourga”, which collaborates with ComedyLab.
For television, he has directed several music videos and has worked as an editor for shows of Greek TV channels ANT1, MEGA, SKAI, ATTICA as well as a dialogue writer for the television series “Classmates”.
